| There are three procedures that can be used to repair stained and chipped teeth. | |
| Bonding: This procedure involves application of tooth colored (composite) materials to the surface of the tooth. Bonding covers discoloration, repairs chips and fills in gaps. It is a relatively painless procedure and can usually be completeed in one visit. Bonding is not permanent however, and usually needs replecement within 3-5 years. Bleaching: This is a popular procedure that can lighten teeth that are colored or stained. The initial visit is brief, requiring and impression in order to fabricate a custom fitted tray. The tray and bleaching gel are ready in about a week and should be worn each evening until the desired shade is achieved, usually 2-3 weeks. Results may vary and an evaluation to determine if you are a good candidate is necessary. Veneers: Veneers are used to close gaps, cover teeth that are stained or discolored, correct slightly crooked or chipped teeth. For more information see releated information under What is a veneer?. |
